The IAA Alliance was established on August 27, 2002. During this first year, the Alliance conducted a number of educational activities including presentations and explanations of the IAA System, most of which were conducted during Disaster Prevention Week.

Here, we will provide an outline of the results of the Alliance's main activities.

2.1 Conferences

2.1.1 IAA Alliance Establishment Meeting

2.1.2 First IAA Alliance Annual Conference

Outline: Introduced new members. Deliberated on auditing proposals recommended by the steering committee; proposals approved. Explained tests to be conducted on September 1st, 2002.

2.1.3 2002 Second IAA Alliance Annual Conference

Outline: New members introduced; Hiroyuki Ohno selected as Chairman of the CRL Information and Network Systems Division Emergency Communications Group; proposal regarding member fees; proposal regarding additional bylaws; proposal regarding FY2002 budget draft and approval of proposals; report on participation in IT Disaster Prevention Drill as part of the 2002 Tokyo Nerima Ward Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Drill; report on participation in 2002 Tokyo Arakawa Ward Comprehensive Earthquake Drill; explanation of motion by working group.

2.2 Steering Committee

2.2.1 1st IAA Alliance Steering Committee Meeting

2.2.3 3rd IAA Alliance Steering Committee Meeting

2.3.1 2002 Arakawa Ward Comprehensive Earthquake Drill - IT Disaster Prevention Drill

Outline: Video presentation showing explanation of IAA System using notebook computer and demonstration of IAA safety confirmation information registration and search using mobile phones (FOMA).

2.3.2 Participation in 2002 Arakawa Ward Comprehensive Earthquake Drill

Outline: Demonstration of residents' safety confirmation information registration using LG-IAA System.

2.3.3 Participation in "Safe and Secure Community Building Workshop"

2.3.4 Operation of IAA System for Iraq

Outline: Began operation of an IAA System for Iraq, intended to confirm the safety of Japanese persons living outside of the country (living in and around Iraq).
