IAA Alliance - Plans for Activities in 2003


IAA Alliance

Following is an outline of the activities to be conducted by the IAA Alliance in 2003.

1. Outline
As the IAA Alliance enters its second year, we will undertake efforts with an emphasis on expanding the scope of the Alliance's activities. Specifically, in 2003, we will promote activities with a focus on strengthening the organizational structure and providing education to outside parties.
2. Activities of the Steering Committee
2.1 Policies for activities
We will promote activities during 2003 with a focus on strengthening the organizational structure and providing education to outside parties.

2.2 Details of activities
Steering Committee meetings will be held once each month to reach agreements on various issues and topics. The Steering Committee will also hold meetings separately as required to discuss opinions on relevant topics.

2.3 Goals of activities
The goal of the Steering Committee's activities will be to ensure the success of various events, including the Kansai IAA Symposium (tentative name) and public tests.

2.4 Plans for activities
The Steering Committee will receive regular reports regarding Working Group activities, and will deliberate on the contents of these reports.

3. Activities of Working Groups
The Working Groups shall conduct the following activities.

3.1 Outside Strategy Working Group

3.1.1 Policies for activities
The policies for activities in the Outside Strategy Working Group will be to increase awareness of the IAA Alliance and to strengthen the Alliance's organizational structure.

3.1.2 Details of activities
Promote external strategies for the IAA System. Conduct a symposium in the Kansai Region to commemorate the establishment of the IAA System Osaka Municipal Internet Data Center. Conduct public tests of the IAA System in collaboration with regional municipal governments and other organizations.

3.1.5 Leader

3.2 Standardization Working Group

3.2.1 Policies for activities
Promote the standardization of the IAA System.

3.2.2 Details of activities
Conduct debates among members regarding formats, protocols, etc., for IAA System registration data, and undertake standardization operations. In particular, conduct activities in collaboration with the Interconnectivity Working Group, and undertake activities with attention to feedback from the results of interconnectivity tests between implemented IAA Systems.

3.2.3 Goals of activities

Establish standardization for the first version of IAA System registration data in time for interconnectivity tests in January 2004, and then standardize the relevant protocols.

3.2.5 Leader

3.3 Interconnectivity Working Group

3.3.1 Policies for activities
Promote the interconnectivity of IAA Systems.

3.3.2 Details of activities
Conduct technical discussions among members regarding the interconnectivity of IAA Systems; implement and verify these systems. Conduct activities in collaboration with the Standardization Working Group, reflect the results of these activities in actual installations, and ensure effective feedback of test results and other information.

3.3.3 Goals of activities
Create specifications required for interconnectivity of IAA Systems in the form of a beta version. Implement systems based on these specifications, conduct interconnectivity tests, and undertake verifications of specifications and installations.

3.3.4 Plans for activities

3.3.5 Leader

3.4 User Interface Working Group

3.4.1 Policies for activities
Study user interfaces for IAA Systems, and improved user interfaces that offer greater accessibility.

3.4.2 Details of activities
Conduct evaluations of IAA Systems from the perspective of usability, and establish guidelines for IAA System user interfaces.

3.4.3 Goals of activities
In 2003, conduct evaluations of IAA Systems from the perspective of usability, and identify problem areas. At the same time, study better user interfaces that incorporate accessibility guidelines.

3.4.4 Plans for activities

3.4.5 Leader

3.5 Emergency Response Working Group

3.5.1 Policies for activities
Provide emergency response in the event of a disaster or other emergency situation.

3.5.2 Details of activities
In the event of a disaster or other emergency situation, start up the IAA System as requested, maintain the system, and stop operations when the system is no longer needed. In the past, the IAA System has operated for the time period shown below.

Operate the IAA System in accordance with requirements.

4. Activities of the Secretariat
4.1 Policies for activities
Support the activities of the Steering Committee, the General Meeting, and the various Working Groups.

4.2 Details of activities
Conduct the following activities.

4.2.1 Work related to Alliance Members
Administrative tasks related to new memberships and cancellation of memberships, announcements, etc.

4.2.2 Tasks related to membership fees:
Collection of membership fees, reminders, management, payment of various costs, confirmation of accounting balances, creation of accounting reports, etc.

4.2.3 Tasks related to Steering Committee:
Scheduling of Steering Committee meetings, creation of agendas and materials, preparations for teleconferences, creation of meeting minutes, etc.

4.2.4 Tasks related to General Meetings:
Scheduling of General Meetings, creation of agendas and materials, preparations for teleconferences, creation of meeting minutes, etc.

4.2.5 PR Activities:
Response to general inquiries (from the press, etc.); creation of inquiry logs and reports to Steering Committee, etc.; external announcements of events; creation of materials for press releases; management of homepage; creation and management of mailing lists (including deletions), etc.

4.2.6 Various procedures:
Creation of documents for requests to Director-General; response to inquiries from participating organizations; creation of various document formats; advising members of various events; summarizing results of event participation, etc.

4.2.7 Tasks related to Working Groups:
Clarify procedures for creation of Working Groups; contacting relevant parties regarding Working Group activities; monitoring of activity status; summaries of activity results (and creation of regular reports); providing information to members. Also, collaborating with Working Groups in the undertaking of administrative tasks.

4.2.8 Other
Appropriate administrative tasks, as required.

4.3 Goals of activities
Support the activities of the Steering Committee, the General Meeting, and the various Working Groups.

4.4 Plans for activities
Appropriately undertake each of the various tasks in an appropriate time frame.
